Miyamoto dreamed up Pikmin while watching his own garden, and the sequel scrapped the original's thirty-day limit to let players explore without a clock ticking. The randomized caves hide its best archaeological joke: the treasures are real-world products — Duracell batteries, jar lids, even a baseball glove — each catalogued with delightful notes from Captain Olimar musing on human civilization. Miniature strategy with an old debt finally paid: two captains at once.
This system doesn't run in the browser yet (Dreamcast, GameCube, PS2 and Xbox are on the way as web emulation matures). The dossier, media and community are already all yours.
