4 Elements began as a PC hit from developer Playrix: you must restore four magical gardens — fire, water, earth, and air — by clearing tile-matching boards, with a watercolor aesthetic and a progression built for short sessions. The DS version carries that formula over to the touch screen, with the stylus replacing the mouse. It fits into the wave of casual puzzles that migrated from PC to DS in the late 2000s, when Nintendo's console became the natural destination for an audience that didn't identify with "traditional" video games.
