Akumajou Dracula - Ubawareta Kokuin is the name under which Konami released in Japan what became known in the West as Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia, produced under Koji Igarashi's supervision. The protagonist, Shanoa, absorbs glyphs from fallen enemies to expand her arsenal of magic attacks, in a level design more linear and demanding than that of its predecessors Dawn of Sorrow and Portrait of Ruin.
For much of the era's critics it was the best portable Castlevania since Symphony of the Night, and it remains a must-play reference for metroidvania on DS: well-tuned difficulty, a solid progression system, and a more austere, gothic art direction than its immediate predecessors.
