Based on the second phase of the Beyblade anime and toy line ('Metal Masters'), the game brings to DS the battles between beyblades -spinning combat tops- among the series' characters, with the title's 'Nightmare Rex' top as one of the standout pieces in the playable roster.
Like almost all Beyblade adaptations on consoles, it targets directly the young audience that follows the anime and collects the physical toys, prioritizing faithfulness to the license over depth in the combat system.
