It follows the usual format of Bleach adaptations on DS: one-on-one or team fights featuring the main characters' techniques and zanpakutou, supported by story segments pulled from the manga. It's one of several Bleach entries Bandai released exclusively in Japan during the anime's peak popularity, never crossing over to the West.
