It continues the line of 2D Bleach fighting games Sega developed exclusively for Japan, reproducing battles between Shinigami, Arrancars, and other factions from Tite Kubo's manga with a wide roster of characters and their signature techniques. Each entry in the DS series closely followed the progress of the original story.
Like the rest of the Bleach DS saga, it remained exclusive to Japan, with no localization for other markets.
