It adapts the universe of "Bouken-ou Beet" ("Beet the Vandel Buster"), the manga series created by Riku Sanjo and Koji Inada -the same duo behind Dragon Quest: Dai no Daibouken-, with action battles between the "Busters" and the evil Vandels of the original story.
It remained confined to the Japanese market, consistent with the series' audience; it's one more entry in the wide catalog of action manga adaptations that never crossed the Pacific.
