Developed by Konami, the game revisits Death Note's mythology to set up an original story centered on the search for a successor to L, with deduction and investigation mechanics that aim to capture the mental chess game between L and Kira that made the manga and anime famous.
It stayed limited to the Japanese market, like most of the franchise's video games. For Death Note fans it's one more piece of that universe; for everyone else, a rarity that requires knowing the original story to appreciate it.
