Like much of the movie-licensed games of the '80s, it translated Marty McFly and the DeLorean's story into a string of action and platform screens that barely brush against the film's plot: dodging obstacles, meeting objectives against the clock, and little else. The MSX version shares that logic of a rushed adaptation, common to almost every "Back to the Future" port made for 8-bit computers at the time.
It's not remembered for its gameplay but for what it represents: the wave of movie licensing fever that also reached the Japanese computer market.
