Ace Combat - Squadron Leader is the name Ace Combat 5: The Unsung War received in Europe, developed by Project Aces within Namco. The series had found its ideal formula: accessible yet demanding aerial combat, campaigns with an almost cinematic structure, and an orchestral score that elevated every mission. This entry added the squadron system, with wingmen the player could direct mid-combat.
For much of the specialized press, it's the high point of the series on PS2: a fictional war between invented nations that still manages to land hard, with a roster of real-licensed planes and memorable missions. It remains the recommended gateway for anyone wanting to understand why Ace Combat has such a loyal fanbase.
This system doesn't run in the browser yet (Dreamcast, GameCube, PS2 and Xbox are on the way as web emulation matures). The dossier, media and community are already all yours.
