Alvin and the Chipmunks brings to PS2 the usual formula for children's licenses of the time: simple platforming, collectibles, and short levels starring Alvin, Simon, and Theodore. It doesn't aim to innovate but to offer a recognizable product for the younger audience that follows the franchise in film and TV.
It's a minor game within PS2's family catalog, remembered today more for the license's nostalgia than for its gameplay merits.
