It adapts the world of An American Tail, the 1986 animated film produced by Steven Spielberg and directed by Don Bluth, following the family of Russian immigrant mice led by young Fievel. The game translates that story of immigration seen through a child's eyes into a classic collect-and-jump platformer.
It arrives late relative to the film's original release, like much of the classic animation licenses PS2 recycled for the European kids' audience in the mid-2000s. It's a charming curiosity for those who grew up with Fievel more than a platformer memorable on its own merit.
