Ashita no Joe is one of the foundational works of boxing manga, the story of Joe Yabuki's rise from a marginalized neighborhood to the ring, with an underlying tragedy that marked generations of Japanese readers since the '70s. This PS2 title recreated those fights leaning on the franchise's already-established iconography.
It's a Japan-exclusive title, with little circulation beyond its borders, but for anyone who knows the original manga it represents a way to relive those memorable fights, controller in hand.
