Based on the franchise created by Reki Kawahara (the same author behind Sword Art Online), the game brings the Accel World concept — avatars battling in an accelerated time plane while chasing the title of "Red King" — to an action game with a cast faithful to the anime. Like almost all of PSP's anime-licensed output, it stayed confined to Japan. It's a piece for franchise fans who want to see Haruyuki and company in playable form, rather than a memorable action title on its own merits.
