Ape Escape: On the Loose accompanied PSP's 2005 debut as one of the console's earliest 3D platformers, revisiting the original PlayStation series' formula: chasing and catching escaped monkeys using gadgets, in levels designed to show off what the new handheld could do graphically.
It worked more as a technical calling card than as a revolution for the series, and today it's remembered as part of the launch lineup that helped define what kind of 3D experiences PSP could sustain from day one.
