The Dark Revenant is Falcom's overhaul of the original 90s Brandish for PSP, with XSEED handling bringing it West as well: a first-person dungeon crawler where the entire scenario can be rotated and shifted in blocks, an unusual exploration mechanic that forces you to think of the map as a physical puzzle. Combat and progression keep the series' classic harshness.
Unlike much of PSP's niche Japanese catalog, this entry did arrive translated into English, which made it accessible to Western audiences interested in old-school dungeon crawlers. It remains a solid recommendation for anyone after something different within the genre.
