Crypts of Chaos, published by 20th Century Fox in 1983, offers something uncommon for the Atari 2600's catalog: an eighteen-floor first-person dungeon, where you have to fight trolls, snakes, wizards, and dragons with swords, wands, and other magic items while collecting treasure on the way to the exit. It's actually one of the first attempts to bring first-person dungeon exploration to a home console, with all the technical limitations that implied in 1983. The result looks crude by today's standards, but it was ambitious for its time and its hardware.
