Pitfall: The Mayan Adventure hit the Jaguar in 1995, developed by Imagitec Design and published by Activision: a full reinvention of the original eighties series, with Pitfall Harry — now the son of the classic protagonist — making his way through temples, caverns, and jungles in a side-scrolling platformer with fluid animation and far more detailed scenery than the 8-bit era ever managed. It was part of a wave of classic Activision franchise relaunches aimed at the 32-and-64-bit generation. It's one of the most technically polished conversions the Jaguar received in its final catalog, and it works as a direct bridge between the Pitfall II that Activision had released for the 5200 a decade earlier and the saga's later life on more modern consoles.
