Roc'n Rope is the platform arcade game Konami released in 1983, designed by Tokuro Fujiwara —years later responsible for Ghosts 'n Goblins and Bionic Commando at Capcom—: an archaeologist armed with a flashlight and a grappling rope must climb a series of rocky platforms to reach a phoenix, dodging dinosaurs and cavemen with no way to attack them head-on, only stunning them with light or leaving them dangling from the rope until they fall.
It was the first "wire action" game in history, a genre Fujiwara himself would revisit and expand years later with Bionic Commando, explicitly conceived as an expanded version of this original idea. Coleco brought it to the Atari 2600 and ColecoVision in 1984, securing it a second life in homes.
