Cricket 2002 reproduces the rules, teams, and unhurried pace of cricket, a sport of enormous popularity in the UK, the Indian subcontinent, and much of the Commonwealth, though low-profile in other markets. As a period simulator, it targets a very specific audience already familiar with the sport's rules.
Today it's a piece of geographic niche appeal, valued mainly by cricket fans looking to relive that season; for anyone unfamiliar with the sport, the entry curve is steep.
