Atom circulates in MAME's databases catalogued as a bootleg of Bomb Jack Twin, the unofficial-by-Tecmo sequel to the original Bomb Jack that NMK released in 1993 with the option for two-player simultaneous play. The underlying gameplay is the same: cross fixed platforms collecting bombs while dodging enemies, at a pace only slightly faster than the 1984 game.
Like most of these copies, it adds nothing to the original design: it only changes the name and cosmetic details to avoid paying royalties. Its value is that of any period bootleg, a testament to how Asian platformer hits got pirated in markets with little enforcement.
