Block Carnival, also known as Thunder & Lightning 2, is a falling-block puzzle that reuses characters and the name of an earlier shooter to ride the wave of piece-chaining games that dominated Japanese arcades after Puyo Puyo's success. The mechanics are what you'd expect from the subgenre: match colored tiles to clear them and send junk to your rival. It's a typical case of genre reconversion in the 90s, when any studio with a minor license on hand tried its luck with a competitive puzzle before the trend faded out.
