Aquarium is a 1996 puzzle game developed and published by Excellent System, with a thematic twist on the falling-and-matching-blocks formula: instead of abstract tiles, the player chooses among eight sea animals — dolphin, shark, turtle, jellyfish, among others — and builds chains of three or more of the same kind to clear them, in a mechanic related to Puyo Puyo. It's a typical example of the mid-90s Japanese puzzle game: modest production, a friendly visual identity, and a chaining mechanic that tried to compete, without too much ambition, with the genre's big names.
