Bloxeed arrived in the middle of the worldwide Tetris fever and offered its own twist on the falling-piece genre where pieces stack to complete lines, with the recognizable visual and audio signature of Compile, the studio that would later become famous for Puyo Puyo. It had limited release, mainly in Japan.
It's a valuable piece for understanding the genealogy of the falling-block puzzle in the Japanese catalog: a link between the Tetris explosion and the studio's own systems that Compile would go on to refine a few years later with its most famous series.
