Cosmo Gang the Puzzle takes the aliens from Cosmo Gang the Video, Namco's gallery shooter, and turns them into pieces of a Puyo Puyo-style falling puzzle: identical characters must be grouped together to clear them from the board before they stack up to the edge. It came out in 1997, in the middle of the boom of competitive board puzzles that followed in the wake of Tetris and Puyo Puyo. It's one more sample of how Namco recycled its own character universe to try out different genres, and today it's appreciated mostly by collectors who closely follow the lesser-known spin-offs of Namco's 90s catalog.
