Fighter's History is a one-on-one fighting game developed and published by Data East in 1993, with a weak-points system that allows temporarily stunning the rival by repeatedly hitting a specific area of their body. It's better remembered, however, for the lawsuit Capcom filed against Data East accusing it of plagiarizing elements of Street Fighter II: the courts ruled in favor of Data East, considering that the similarities corresponded to unavoidable genre conventions rather than direct plagiarism. Beyond the lawsuit, it's a solid fighting game in its own right, with that weak-points system as a genuine design contribution setting it apart from its contemporaries.
