Konami owned the licensed beat 'em up genre, and here it hit its peak: four turtles traveling from 1991 New York to prehistory and the future, with the technical flourish of grabbing Foot Soldiers and hurling them straight at the screen, right into the player's face. That trick takes center stage in the fight against Shredder. The SNES port added extra levels and became just as iconic as the original arcade cabinet.
