Academy - Tau Ceti II (CRL, 1987) continues Pete Cooke's acclaimed Tau Ceti by turning you into a cadet at an advanced piloting academy: twenty simulated missions on diverse planets, with a configurable skimmer and that sober, elegant 3D that was Cooke's signature.
The British press showered it with awards, Game of the Month in C+VG and a Crash Smash, and the conversion to the Atari ST suited it wonderfully. Half shooter, half flight exam: few games of the era made you feel so much like a pilot and a student at once.
