Eli's Ladder, published by Simage in 1982 for the Atari 2600, is an educational game designed to teach addition, subtraction, and counting to children: each correct answer moves Eli up one more rung of a ladder toward his ship, ultimately headed for the Moon. It's simple, direct, and has no ambition beyond basic teaching, in line with the wave of "educational" cartridges that sought to justify the console to parents worried about screen time. Due to its small print run, it's today considered the rarest and most sought-after educational cartridge in all of Atari 2600 history.
