Frankenstein's Monster, published by Data Age in 1983 for the Atari 2600, has the player exploring Dr. Frankenstein's castle, collecting stones in the dungeon to carry up to the tower and, trip by trip, build a barricade around the creature before the "Power Probe" — a device that draws energy from an electrical storm — finishes bringing it to life. It takes six complete trips to win the game, in a design that favors tense repetition over direct action. It was also the last game Data Age managed to publish before disappearing, a fittingly grim send-off for the company.
