Gremlins, published by Atari based on Joe Dante's film of the same name, has the player dealing with mischief turned catastrophe: caring for Gizmo while preventing the mogwai from multiplying and turning into the destructive gremlins of the title, within a simple action structure typical of Atari's film licenses of that time. It hit the market in 1984, coinciding with the movie's release. Like much of the era's movie adaptations, it prioritizes brand recognition over playable depth, and today it's remembered more as a piece of interactive merchandising than as a memorable experience in its own right.
