Motocross, distributed in 1983 by Germany's Quelle for the Atari 2600, offers a top-down motorcycle race where the player advances down a straight road against an endless number of rivals that have to be dodged without crashing. There are no curved circuits or scenery variety: the tension comes purely and exclusively from sustaining concentration for as long as possible as traffic speed increases. It's a direct example of how big European retail chains, like Quelle itself, commissioned and distributed generic software under their own label to sell alongside the rest of their appliance and toy catalog.
