Rayman came out in 1995, developed by Ubi Soft's Montpellier studio — the team led by Michel Ancel — and published by Ubi Soft, as one of the last heavyweight conversions the Jaguar received before the console's commercial end: 2D platforming with animation polished down to the smallest detail, starring a character with no arms or legs, capable of floating and throwing punches at a distance, moving through fantasy worlds that are colorful but demanding to execute. The Jaguar version launched simultaneously with the PlayStation and Saturn editions, something rare for the system at that stage of its life.
Alongside Worms, it's one of the last big multiplatform names that dared to join the Jaguar's lineup right in the middle of its commercial decline, standing as proof that the console, against all odds, could still land the occasional heavyweight port in 1995.
