The "RealSports" series was Atari's attempt, already well into the 80s, to compete with the sports prestige Activision had earned with its own simulators, and this boxing entry offers bouts with different punch types and a more elaborate stamina management than the console's earliest fighting games. It arrived in 1987, at a time when the 2600 already coexisted with much more powerful machines.
It's an example of how Atari, even in the home stretch of its original console's commercial life, kept trying to polish genres the competition already dominated.
