Pac-Land arrived on the Lynx in 1991, developed and published by Atari Corporation, as a conversion of Namco's 1984 arcade that had taken Pac-Man out of his traditional maze for the first time: the player guides the character through side-scrolling settings, jumping over obstacles and dodging ghosts on his way back home. It was one of the franchise's first attempts to experiment with a platforming format instead of the classic maze. It's a curiosity within the Lynx catalog, both for being one of the less conventional variants of the Pac-Man saga and for documenting a genre experiment that Namco itself didn't repeat too often.
