Baten Kaitos Origins goes back several years in the saga's timeline to narrate the rise of the Empire of Alfard, with Sagi as the new protagonist and the same Monolith Soft and tri-Crescendo team behind development. It keeps the first entry's card-based combat system but streamlines it and adds real-time action within the turns, plus a guardian spirit that now actively takes part in combat. It arrived in 2006, when GameCube was already in the final stretch of its commercial life, which doomed it to a much smaller circulation than its predecessor: today it's one of the most sought-after pieces among the console's JRPG collectors, precisely because of that scarcity.
This system doesn't run in the browser yet (Dreamcast, GameCube, PS2 and Xbox are on the way as web emulation matures). The dossier, media and community are already all yours.
