Banjo-Tooie brings back Rare's bear and bird with interconnected worlds, bigger and denser than in the first entry, adding new moves, cooperative mechanics between the protagonists, and a design that pushes the collect-a-thon platformer to the limit of what N64 could technically sustain.
Along with Donkey Kong 64, it's one of the great closing statements of the console's golden age of 3D platforming, and it's still the game cited whenever design ambition pushed almost to the extreme comes up.
