Fighter Destiny 2 continued the proposal of the first Fighters Destiny (known in Japan as Fighting Cup): instead of winning by knockout, battles are decided by a points system awarded based on the technical quality of each hit, takedown, or counterattack, a twist critics of the time highlighted as one of the most original ideas in the fighting genre on the 64. It was again developed by Genki and released in 2000.
Despite the good critical reception, it never achieved the commercial impact of references like Clay Fighter or the generation's big fighting sagas. For anyone discovering it today, it remains one of the console's most interesting and least cited offerings in the genre.
