Known in North America as Advance Wars: Days of Ruin, it's the fourth entry in Intelligent Systems' turn-based strategy series for Nintendo handhelds. It breaks with the lighthearted tone of previous entries and adopts a darker, post-apocalyptic setting, without losing the tactical core of moving infantry, tanks, and planes across a grid map.
It remains one of the genre benchmarks for turn-based strategy on DS: real tactical depth, a well-calibrated difficulty curve, and matches that are just as enjoyable solo as against another person.
