Crystal Mines adapts for the handheld a classic concept from the early years of home video games: traveling through underground caves collecting crystals while dodging falling rocks and enemies, in the tradition popularized by Boulder Dash in the early '80s. This DS version revisits that formula with refreshed levels.
It's an example of how certain very old puzzle concepts found a second life in Nintendo DS's budget European catalog, aimed at an audience nostalgic for that kind of logic-and-reflex challenge.
