Metal Slug: 2nd Mission is the run-and-gun that studio Ukiyotei developed and SNK published for the Neo Geo Pocket Color in 2000, following two soldiers — Gimlet and Red Eye — whose stories intertwine across thirty-eight missions, more than double what its handheld predecessor offered. The SV-000 tank returns, now in its second prototype, joined by the Slug Sub, a small submarine built for the new underwater missions.
It keeps the spirit of the main series fully intact — run, shoot, leap onto enemy vehicles and hijack them — cleverly adapted to the smaller screen and fewer buttons of SNK's handheld. For Metal Slug fans, it's one of the best proofs that the formula could thrive even outside the original Neo Geo hardware.
