In a move unusual for its time, SEGA lent its biggest mascot to SNK's rival handheld for this fast-paced action platformer, which mixed levels and bosses from various classic Sonic games — including a few from Sonic CD — into an adventure built specifically for the Neo Geo Pocket Color's hardware. The result won praise for capturing the series' trademark sense of speed on a screen far smaller than the ones Sonic usually ran on.
It's still considered one of the best Sonic games outside SEGA's own platforms, and one of the reasons the Neo Geo Pocket Color still holds a special place among collectors.
