Part of the long-running Backyard Sports series, which since the late '90s has offered cartoonish versions of the sport starring neighborhood kids instead of pro stars, with simplified stats and a lighthearted tone made for a young audience.
By the time this entry arrived, PS2 was already coexisting with the next console generation, and the game worked as an affordable, accessible alternative for families who still had it at home. It's a minor piece within a franchise much better remembered on PC.
