BDFL Manager 2003 brought the European football manager formula to PS2, focused exclusively on the German league: transfers, tactics, club finances, and managing a full season from the head coach's desk. It was a product made almost exclusively for the German market, where this kind of simulator had a strong tradition on PC.
Its arrival on console represented an attempt to bring that PC audience into the living room, at a time when sports managers were still struggling to find a comfortable interface beyond mouse and keyboard.
