Blood: The Last Vampire was a mere 48-minute OVA released in 2000 that, despite its short length, became a landmark of Japanese animation for its fusion of traditional animation and CGI and for the cold, lethal design of its protagonist, the huntress Saya. This PS2 video game recreated that universe of sword combat against creatures hiding within everyday life.
It's a Japan-exclusive title, aimed at followers of the OVA and the mythology that would later expand into series and films. Its interest today lies in revisiting that dark aesthetic that influenced much of the action anime that followed.
