Developed by Z-Axis, BMX XXX was born as the spiritual successor to Mat Hoffman's Pro BMX, but Acclaim decided to add strippers, vulgar jokes, and explicit content to differentiate it from Tony Hawk. That decision led Mat Hoffman to pull his name from the license shortly before launch.
It's remembered more for the controversy it generated -and for the commercial failure that helped sink Acclaim- than for its merits as a bike game. Today it works as a case study of just how far shock marketing went in the early 2000s.
