Bomberman Hardball takes Hudson Soft's character and puts him into an invented sport halfway between hockey and soccer, where bombs replace conventional hits to score points. It's one of the many variations the franchise tried outside its classic formula of mazes and grid explosions, seeking to refresh the brand with a sports twist.
It remained an oddity within the Bomberman catalog, more curious than significant, but likeable for anyone wanting to see just how far the brand was stretched in the PS2 era.
