Cabela's Monster Bass continued the line of fishing and hunting games backed by the Cabela's sporting goods brand, with black bass as the star and a tournament structure that rewarded patience and knowledge of lures and casting techniques. It's representative of a very specific American market niche, tied to sport fishing culture.
Its distribution remained almost entirely limited to North America, where the Cabela's brand had real commercial weight outside video games, which explains the near-total absence of international impact.
