Culdcept is one of the most original offerings in the Japanese strategy catalog: a board traversed like a classic tabletop game, where each square is claimed by summoning creatures from a collectible card deck that then defend that territory in automatic battles. This expansion added cards and content to Omiya Soft's base title.
It's a niche entry, Japan-exclusive, but essential for understanding where that board-and-card hybrid came from, one that would later inspire several genre games on subsequent consoles.
