Developed by Pyramid alongside Japan Studio, Patapon turns every military order — advance, attack, defend — into a four-drum rhythmic pattern the player must hit in sync, guiding an entire army of tiny Patapon warriors across a map drawn with an art direction built from cut-out silhouettes, unlike anything else in PSP's catalog. The result is as much troop-command strategy as it is pure rhythm game.
For much of the critical establishment, it stands as one of the most original and best-regarded titles in all of PSP's library, and proof that the console could also house ideas that fit no pre-existing genre.
